Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Define and implement an enterprise data transport architecture over SONET, Ethernet, and MPLS which allows for redundant communication paths over fiber or microwave utilizing loop technology with 50ms switching

Design schemes for setup and provisioning of routers, switches, and multiplexers
-
Draft bid specifications and request for proposal, and evaluate vendor responses
-
Ability to review communication needs and write detailed scope of work
-
Develop standards for the installation and operation the telecommunication data transport system.

Ability to design and assign IP addresses, and VANS & MPLS tags
-
Design layer 2 & 3 OSI stack communication management schemes
-
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP, TDM, MPLS, ATM, RPR, SNMP transport methods / protocols
-
Knowledge of high bandwidth communication of gigabit or higher
-
Develop data timing and synchronization architecture
-
Provide technical assistance to business units on complex issues
-
Coordinate and support field personnel regarding installation of communication hardware / software on various platforms

Analyze communication problems to determine the appropriate method to resolve and/or improve communications

Determine appropriate configuration for communications to ensure optimal performance

Evaluate request and draft recommendation on the most cost effective and reliable solution

Working knowledge of LAN and NT environments
